A Toothbrush Saved My Sanity!

I don't know about the rest of the moms out there, but brushing my son's teeth had become quite THE experience. I swear he has jaws of steel. No matter how hard we tried to brush his teeth, his mouth would clamp shut. We have bribed, begged, cajoled...all to no avail. There was no way a toothbrush was entering his mouth! A long time ago, before Lucas was born and during one of my nightly "Let's See If I Can Manage To Read The Entire Internet", I came across a vibrating toothbrush for babies, which seemed to get good reviews. There were many moms that specifically raved about how their previously toothbrush challenged babies all of a sudden loved having their pearly whites brushed! I locked it away in my brain for a later time since the munchkin had not even entered the world. After many weeks, possibly months, of arguing with a 1 year old on the benefits of good oral hygiene, I remembered The Toothbrush. So, off to Babies R Us we went on a mission to find this infamous toothbrush. We get there and of course, we can't find it...so we ask for help. The store clerk immediately says that they do not carry it. Finally, after telling her that we are sure that they do because it is on their website and I had seen it at the store before, she decides to ask her manager. Lo and behold, The Toothbrush was hiding behind another product. Fast forward to later that evening...bath time and tooth brushing time! Hesitantly, we get the toothbrush out and turn it on. We let Lucas see the toothbrush and then hold it. Finally, I take the toothbrush and go to brush his teeth. He opens his mouth without any prompting and lets me do it! Success! Now, he loves having his teeth brushed and actually looks forward to it. So much so, that the other night, he wanted to take the toothbrush to bed with him. Of course, I wouldn't let him and he did not exactly like that. Well, that's a story for another day-LOL!

If I can remember, tomorrow I will post either a video or picture of Lucas with his favorite toothbrush! Anyhow, if you are wondering which toothbrush I am referring to, it is called Summer Infant Gentle Vibrations Massager and Toothbrush. It is $7.99at Babies R Us.

Awesome! I think we might have to buy one! Graham doesn't mind having his teeth brushed all that much...but I feel like we aren't getting them very well. When we fed him those spinach nuggets the other day, there was still spinach all stuck in the back of his teeth!

I truly believe in these types of tooth brushes. I made the switch with my teen when he was 8 and my now 8 year old has used one since he was 4! They are awesome even if they just stand there and move around a little on the teeth.
