If you have a child, you already know how much children need and enjoy learning how things works, which is why most children love things like snaps, buttons, and buckles. Let me introduce you to a recently launched, adorable toy called The BuckleyBoo! The BuckleyBoo was co-created by a child psychologist and grandmother who recognized how much children love to play with buckles. The BuckleyBoo has five buckles attached with really cute, modern ribbons so that your child can practice her buckling skills. You can choose either the BuckleyCat, BuckleyBear, or the BuckleyDog. Starting next year, you will also be able to purchase the BuckleyBunny and smaller 12 inch BuckleyBoos.
I had the opportunity to try out the BuckleyDog and I was not disappointed. The BuckleyDog is very soft, totally adorable, and has an internal chime that makes the sweetest sound. My 16 month old son, Lucas, LOVES it! When the package arrived, I checked it out first and then quickly got my son so that he could play with it. As soon as I handed it to him, he hugged it really tight and happily ran around the kitchen giggling and hugging his BuckleyBoo! I was able to catch some of his reaction on film for you to see. I'll be honest, he does not totally get the buckling yet, but it is something I need to work on with him since it is really important to develop these skills. Although, he isn't quite able to fit the buckles together, he was immediately fascinated by the buckles themselves as you can see in the video below.
The BuckleyBoo website explains really well the stages of cognitive development in relation to the BuckleyBoo and how your child will benefit from The BuckleyBoo from 15months of age to 4 years old.
The BuckleyBoo will provide your child endless enjoyment while developing his or her hand-eye coordination, problem solving skills, and spatial awareness.

Stage 1: Matching
Children first learn to scan and match the 5 brightly patterned ribbons- polka dot to polka dot, stripe to stripe.
Stage 2: Buckling
At eighteen months, children are ready to buckle, but they cannot yet unbuckle, which makes BuckleyBoo, for a time, a toy to be shared between parent and child. At this stage, the child will likely leave all the other buckles in their environment alone; now they have 5 of their own buckles with which to play.
Stage 3: Unbuckling
At three years, children have both the physical strength and the problem solving skills to buckle and unbuckle and they will happily do for hours on end. Children will also begin to integrate their lovable pal into their world of imaginative play.
The BuckleyBoo will provide your child endless enjoyment while developing his or her hand-eye coordination, problem solving skills, and spatial awareness.

Gotta be the dog! My son just loves dogs. And buckles. We can't take his stroller out without him first buckling it up. Every time I get ready to put him in his high chair I look down to see the buckle already engaged! This would be loads of fun for him.
