Lucas' 1 Year Birthday Cake

Monday, January 26, 2009 Posted by Piera Jolly

For Lucas' birthday last year, I bought two round cakes from Publix. I told them to only minimally frost the cake and not to do any piping around the edges or decoration whatsoever. I bought some wooden dowels, chocolate candy melts, fondant, and an unfinished wooden 1. I tiered the cake myself and made a white ribbon from the fondant to go along the bottom edge of the cake. Then, I stuck some of the candy melts onto the cake with a bit of buttercream frosting. The wooden 1, I painted to coordinate with the cake. It turned out great and it was SO inexpensive!

Ok, ladies, I can't wait to see yours! I had to take Mr. Linky down again because it is slowing down my blog again. I don't know what's up with that! Make sure to leave me a comment so that I can check yours out!

That is awesome! I love it! I'll have to remember this next time! Curious... what kind of frosting did you use? I know you said you had them lightly frost it.. but did you frost it too?

I think I'm stressed in getting ready hence why I'm not yet excited. Have to think of everything to pack plus extras for both kids. Soooo happy the boy is now in briefs. Whooooo!

Oh and if you could fold yourself like a diaper I'd throw you in my suitcase and put diapers over you for our trip :)

    Ttys.
