Spanish for Children the Fun Way! Boca Beth Review and Giveaway

Many of you may already know that I speak both Spanish and English. Spanish was actually my first language and my parents fought hard for me to retain it as I was growing up. Today, I am very thankful that they were very strict about this. Spanish has helped me throughout my life-in school, work, understanding other cultures, and so much more.
Now, I am married to my wonderful husband, Mike, who doesn't speak a lick of Spanish-LOL! We ONLY speak English in our house and I desperately want Lucas to speak Spanish as well. I want him to reap the benefits too. There are so many studies that show the positive impact that learning a second language has on children. For example, bilingual children read earlier than monolingual children and they score higher on language tests. There is also a very short window of opportunity for a child to learn another language. The younger they are the less self-conscious they are about learning something new so the earlier you start, the better. As a result, I always keep my eyes peeled for children's products that teach Spanish. When I came across Boca Beth's award winning language series, I was so excited!

Beth Butler, also known as Boca Beth , is the founder of this really fun language series. Beth is a teacher herself and has lived in Mexico and Chile, which is where her love for Spanish as a second language began.
The Boca Beth language learning series is a fun, interactive way for children to learn Spanish. Boca Beth makes learning Spanish fun by incorporating music and movement to engage children. She also gives parents and teachers a wide array of tools that will help engage children even more such as puppets, musical shakers, DVD's, and activity books. What is really wonderful about the learning series is that it is a BILINGUAL program meaning that Spanish and English are taught side-by-side. I love this because it makes it much easier for children to learn and Spanish speaking children can learn English!
I received the My First Songs in Spanish CD along with an adorable maraca. From the moment I pressed PLAY on the CD player, Lucas was engaged by the music. He runs around the room laughing when I play the CD for him. He totally loves it and hums to the music! He's not speaking Spanish yet, but he can barely speak any language-LOL. He's only 17 months old, but the music definitely keeps him engaged and I can tell that the fun repetitions in both Spanish and English will have him speaking Spanish soon.
The Boca Beth learning series is really a must-have for children. It will give them a head-start in education and expose them to a new culture. As parents, it can feel intimidating to try to teach your child a second language that you do not know. With the Boca Beth learning series, you don't have to worry because it is designed in a way that you can feel comfortable participating with your child. Who knows, maybe you'll even learn a little Spanish! You can purchase the Boca Beth learning series products directly from the Boca Beth website.Check out Boca Beth in action!

Bilingual children also perform better on math standardized tests.
BTW--I think it's great that you want to teach Lucas Spanish :) In our family, my husband is the bilingual one and I'm monolingual. We really want our son to be bilingual so I'm always reminding him to talk to him in Spanish--it's definately not easy because his tendency is to just use English.
This is a great giveaway!

I feel that being bilingual helps children to communicate better with other children that are of a different culture and become more receptive to the needs of others. I also believe that it will help them later in life to learn another language and continue with their diversity.

i think this is a fantastic prize. my husband is cuban and i am american-i truly think that being billingual is a awesome asset-not only does it allow you a peak into another culture, but as the child grows, it will offer him/her a world of extra opportunities. my grandmother spoke polish, but never taught her children , and to this day, my father and his siblings regret not learning a second language- plus knowledge is power, who wouldnt want to know another language-

This is an amazing program! As an adult, I have studied several languages, and the most difficult part is the pronunciation. When a child is born, it has the ability to make and hear every sound in every language. As he/she grows up, those that are not used in the native language are lost. Exposing a child to a second language early will enable him to speak it
with a native pronunciation.
Thank you for a great giveaway!

I didn't know that learning Spanish as a second language allows a child to be able to communicate with over 300 million more people worldwide, as a homeschooler, we are unable to teach/learn without a program like this. I would be forever grateful to get this for my kids. Both learned a little Spanish when they were enrolled in public schools, but not enough to do anything with it. I think my kids would love this program and could benefit from this.

From their website, I learned that learning Spanish as a second language allows a child to be able to communicate with over 300 million more people worldwide. My perspective on this is that we are becoming a global community and children in countries that speak other languages generally learn English. We need to get our children to learn their languages, too, to make them more attractive to future employers and also to broaden their horizons for their futures.

Christina - xristya@rock.com - BocaBeth tells us that we live in an increasingly bi-lingual world, which is one reason to learn! I myself grew up speaking both Ukrainian and English and can testify that not only did it help me learn to read faster and earlier (at age two!) but that it helped me grasp abstract concepts more easily.

LOL! I'm right there with your husband. I am married to a latin man (vice versa from you) and he has tried almost everything to get me to learn spanish (my vocab is about 20 words, if that and I took it in high school!). I have read books, listened to tapes, nothing keeps my attention but everytime we're with family, english is the 2nd language...I want to interract with them so badly! I read your post and as simple as it sounds, I truly think it would help me out -- yes, me...give me the kids level, that has GOT to work! Great giveaway by the way

It is important that your children start learning another language. One could be Spanish, of course if they could learn more languages, it would be better. With songs and videos your children can learn and at the same time have fun. And it is important to start as soon as you can.

I think one of the best benefits of teaching kids a second language is that they become more aware of other cultures around them!
