Mabels Labels BlogHer '09 Contest Entry

Mabels Labels is holding the BEST contest ever! They are offering to fully sponsor one blogger’s trip to BlogHer ’09. If you would have asked me a year ago about BlogHer, I wouldn’t have even known what it was. Today, it would be this mom bloggers dream to be able to meet other bloggers and to learn from them.
Mabels Labels BlogHer '09 Contest Entry Question:
What have been the rewards and benefits of participating in the blogging community?
In large part, I feel that blogging is a form of therapy for both the author and the reader. For the author, blogging is like the ultimate form of journaling. You write down your thoughts and you get immediate feedback. At the risk of sounding corny, I feel a sense of exhilaration in the morning as I drink my coffee and sign in to Blogger. I’m excited to read the comments my readers have left and start reading the latest scoop in the blogosphere. As someone who is both an author and a reader, I can tell you that the blogging community has had a positive impact in my life in so many ways.
I am a WAHM and truth be told, that is not so easy. I don’t get out much because of it and my blog has become an outlet for me as both a woman and as a mother. It’s a place for me to be ME. I have ranted and raved to my readers and in turn, I am better because of it. I voraciously read other blogs whether they be mom blogs, crafting blogs, cooking blogs and I am better because of it. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t learn something from another blogger or one of my readers. I have also been fortunate to work with some pretty amazing companies-some that took a chance on me in my very early blogging days (thank you!). Through them, I have been able to learn about and test some amazing products for moms, children, and families and then share my thoughts with other moms. I’m not going to lie, it’s cool getting to try these products, but do you know what is cooler? Helping an amazing company or fellow mom spread the word about their product.
Most importantly, the blogging community has brought me friendship. I have been blessed to have met several amazing mom bloggers who have helped me along the way and who I now can call friends. For instance, many of you know that I am friends with Felicia at Go Graham Go, but what you may not know is that we talk every single day. Yep, every day we Skype each other and talk about our kids, our lives, our blogs…pretty much everything moms (or mom bloggers-LOL) talk about. The funny thing is that in September we didn’t even know the other existed! We met through our blogs and today (even though we’ve never met face-to-face) I would say that she is one of my closest friends. That is the real power of the blogosphere: connecting people.
Now I will take a cheap shot by presenting you with a letter from my 18 month old son, Lucas. He can barely speak and NO he can’t write, but somehow he was able to transfer his thoughts onto this piece of paper that I scanned in just for YOU.
