Mom Time in '09: Final Question! We Want to Hear From YOU! What Are YOU Doing to Live Your Dream? (5 extra entries)

Tuesday, February 03, 2009 Posted by Piera Jolly

When you are thinking about time for yourself, what do you envision? Is it more time pampering yourself or maybe just some time alone in the bathroom! For some of you it may be curling up with a good book by the fire. For all of us though, it can be a time of self reflection and even self improvement!

How many times are you able to stop and think about your dreams? That's why this final question is: What is it that you are doing to live your dream? This is such a BIG question, but we think it is valuable to reflect on what is going great in your life! Everyone has something no matter how small that is a blessing to them and is part of their dream! Think about it!

I guess for me most of my dreams are kind of simple. They didn't always used to be though! Back in college, I used to envision myself as a hot shot attorney who dressed in designer business suits, wore spiked heels, and was always put together. You know, the usual stuff-big houses, fancy cars, and such. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that, but at some point for me that all changed. I don't dream about money and fame anymore. Don't get me wrong, money is nice and I can definitely spend it and spend it happily I will! LOL.

For me, my dream is more about TIME. I want time with my family, my friends, myself, and all the people that I love. I feel that we (and that includes me as well-I'm definitely not immune) spend a lot of time wanting more stuff. We want everything bigger, faster, and better. I guess you can call it "Keeping up with the Jones'". The sad part is that we are wasting the precious moments that we have to add real meaning to our lives. I guess that's the reason that I decided to become a stay at home mom (or WAHM actually). I guess I started asking myself if one day when I'm old and gray, will I remember or care about the designer clothes and fancy cars? What kind of memories do I want to stock up on that will make my life more meaningful?

In that way, I am living one of my dreams everyday, which is to be with my son, my husband, and my family as much as I can. Please don't misunderstand me-I am not some Super Mom! I have tough days: days in which all I want is to get out of the house and have some adult interaction and days that I question the decisions I have made. Also, you obviously don't have to stay at home with your kids to do this-that was just the right path for me. It's really about being present in your life-in those moments that matter and the road I was on before was not going to allow me to do that as much as I needed to.

I do have many dreams that I need to work on like I dream of opening my own store one day or inventing something! I want to travel to Europe and live on the ocean somewhere!

I'm not sure how to link to things so you can let me know about that if you don't mind. I'm new to all of this.
About my dreams, My husband just lost his job, I have a house and 2 lot payments. I have a dog and 30 chickens. I have no money in the bank. I have no idea where I'm getting money for food next month. I have not had a vacation in years. Well I have to tell you I have never been happier. I count my blessing everyday. I see them clearer than I ever had. I have a healthy family. My husband loves me and I love him. Our kids well they are kids and I love them and they are beautiful. I have found my dream, I stopped trying to finnish everything, I stopped trying to make everyone happy and everything look perfect. I started looking at everyone I love and care about and in my mind and heart and feel that I love them. When I do this the monment changes and sometimes I tear up. It is easy to look at a baby and think you are so cute I love you, you are so presious I am so lucky to have you. Well I started doing this with my older kids. It is just as wonderful or even more when I realized I am so blessed to have them in my life. I have found my dream I am in it every day I get to have a family forever.

What a great post, and what a great reminder! I tend to get so caught up in the expected outcome that I forget it’s the process that’s important My dream is really to open my own Real Estate business in about 7 years or so, and I don’t care if for the next 20 it’s just me running it

Hey, this has nothing to do with "dreams" but I just realized I was really dumb and entered the giveaways as both a subscriber and a follower...so sorry!

I have always wanted to have a child who calls me "Mom", and although I have two step-children, neither calls me "Mom" now thanks to the interference of their birthmom. My husband and I are now working to foster and adopt a young child to add to our family. With luck, this one will call me "Mom".
