Kroger Wants You to Go Green! Cool Contest Alert and Kroger Gift Card Giveaway! (2 winners)
Earth Day is April 22nd-less than a week away! This month is definitely all about Going Green and in honor of that, Kroger is hosting a very cool contest with some big prizes! On April 6, Kroger launched their awesome Reusable Shopping Bag Contest. To enter, you design your own reusable grocery bag using Kroger.com's easy-to-use design tool.
After you design your reusable grocery bag, Kroger will send you a confirmation email allowing you to see your final design and send it to your family and friends so they can vote for your design! An expert judging panel will rank the top bag designs, with special consideration given to those designs that have the most votes. Also, JUST FOR ENTERING, Kroger will give you a FREE reusable grocery bag!
The TOP 10 bag designs will be given a prize! Pictured left is last year's winning design. One lucky designer will win a $1,000 Kroger gift card and the chance for their bag design to be sold in stores. Judges will also select four finalists who will receive $250 Kroger gift cards and five runners-up who will receive $100 Kroger gift cards. I don't know about you, but in these tough economic times ANY of those prizes would be a HUGE relief! If I won $1000 to use at Kroger, I would seriously feel like I won the lotto-lol.
Also, Kroger has partnered with Café Press so that you can purchase a reusable bag (and other merchandise) with your OWN design on it! That is pretty cool!
Kroger's Reusable Shopping Bag Contest will end on May 15th so go ENTER!

I'm impressed with Kroger's waste reduction program. In the past five years, the company has donated more than 135 million pounds of food and groceries, valued at more than $200 million, to more than 85 local food banks serving communities where the company’s customers and associates live and work. This is a great way for Kroger to use their resources wisely and in turn help many people along the way.

Energy-Saving Measures
Our skylights mean we can max out on natural light and our open ceiling reduces building material.
The refrigeration system in our store is so cool, it not only keeps food cold, but it also helps heat our air and water.
Energy-efficient fans and dryers inside our frozen food cases keep products frozen while using less electricity.
Our overhead lights are smart enough to turn themselves off at night. Motion sensors turn the lights off when no one is around.
The light bulbs over the magazines and check lanes are called "compact fluorescents." They last longer and use less energy than regular bulbs.
Our concrete floor eliminates the need for tile and its harsh cleaning solvents.
Our wide array of organic products results in less pesticide for the ecosphere.
Our recycling program includes cardboard, newspaper, glass, etc.
Having reusable bags available for your use, as well as our Bag-2-Bag recycling program, reduces waste.
