Detect & Manage Your Child's Ear Infections: EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor Review, Giveaway, & Coupon Code!
Lucas has had two ear infections in the last couple of years and even though they are common in all children; those two times I was literally panic stricken because I had no idea that they were actually ear infections. Both times, he spiked very high fevers-the last time his fever reached an alarming 105 degrees! I was so scared and I would have LOVED to know right then and there that his fever was probably caused by an ear infection. So, when I found out about the EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor I truly wanted to know more about the product and how it could help parents like myself.
About the EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor (from the website):The EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor uses gentle sound waves to accurately and painlessly detect the presence of middle ear fluid, a key sign of an ear infection. This is the same patented and proven acoustic reflectometry technology used by thousands of physicians since 1997, and is a technique recommended by the American Academies of Pediatrics and Family Physicians. EarCheck® is also one of the most thoroughly tested and independently evaluated consumer medical products available. To date, EarCheck® has been used by more than 5,000 medical professionals and 70,000 parents. The Monitor is FDA approved and UL listed.
Here's How the EarCheck® Works:
The monitor works by sending a pleasant chirping sound into the ear canal. Some of this sound bounces off the eardrum and travels back to the instrument's built-in microphone. EarCheck® then analyzes the reflected sound to determine if the eardrum is working normally. If there is fluid in the ear, the eardrum's vibrations may be restricted. The greater the fluid level, the greater the reflected sound.
Innovia Medical LLC, the developer and marketer generously sent me an EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor for me to review. I am so impressed with it for so many reasons! First of all, it is SO easy to use and literally takes seconds to give you a reading. You just place the tip of EarCheck® into the child's outer ear canal and press the SCAN button. Within SECONDS, the monitor tells you the probability of an ear infection! It is painless for children-Lucas didn't even bat an eyelash when I tried it on him. Fortunately, Lucas has not had an ear infection since I received the EarCheck®, but I can tell you that every reading has said exactly that. No false alarms at all.
I think the EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor is an excellent tool for parents to use not only in detecting an ear infection, but also in ensuring that the prescribed treatment is actually working on your child. The EarCheck® can also prevent unnecessary trips to the doctor and decrease the use of antibiotics. This is a great health product that belongs in every parent's medicine cabinet!
Want It: The EarCheck® retails for $49.99 and can be purchased at Walmart, CVS, and Babies R Us. Jolly Mom readers can receive 20% OFF their EarCheck® Monitor when you order from EarCheck.com! Enter coupon code TWEET20 at checkout!

When taking a reading, be sure to carefully insert the tip into the child's ear canal, making certain the tip points directly down the canal opening. The tip does not need to actually be inserted into the ear canal, especially in smaller children; the tip just needs to cover the ear canal opening.
