Apple Cheeks Reusable Diapers: Review and Giveaway!

Before Lucas was born, I never even entertained the idea of cloth diapering. Admittedly, it just seemed like way too much work. Just a few weeks ago was the first time that the idea of cloth diapering really started to make sense to me. I am trying hard to live a greener life and of course all those diapers at the landfill certainly does not constitute anything good or eco-friendly. Not to mention the cost of disposable diapers is outrageous! Yes, cloth diapers cost more upfront, but you do save a ton of money in just a short time. More importantly, cloth diapers are better for babies sensitive skin. There's less of a chance of rashes, irritations, and they are more comfortable. Can you imagine what it must feel like to wear a diaper all day? Ugh. It's funny how life works sometimes, but literally the day after I started researching cloth diapers, Apple Cheeks contacted me about reviewing their line of cloth diapers. I let them know that I was a total newbie, but that I was on board!
Apple Cheeks sent me a really cute blue envelope or pocket diaper cover with a couple of hemp and bamboo inserts plus a booster. I'll be honest, I looked at all of it and thought...now what? I was kind of nervous about the whole thing and had NO IDEA what I was doing. Here's the great thing about Apple Cheeks though-their customer support is amazing! They really provide newbie with everything we need to succeed. Each diaper comes with washing instructions, they provide video tutorials on how to use their diapers, you can email Apple Cheeks with questions and get a response within 24 hours, or you can even call and talk to a live person for FREE!So, after watching the video tutorial I knew WHAT to do, but I was still nervous about whether or not this would be difficult and messy. I was really scared of leaks and messy laundry that I have never really had to deal with disposables. Apple Cheeks diapers are really cool though because they can be used as either a pocket diaper with inserts or a diaper cover. They are made from an outer layer of breathable, waterproof polyurethane laminated polyester (PUL), sewn to a butter soft microfleece inner layer. They come in two sizes: Size 1 fits from 7 - 20lbs, and Size 2 fits from 18 - 40lbs. The diapers have two rows of easy-to-adjust snaps, allowing for a proper fit at the legs and the waist. I got Lucas the size two (he weighs 27 pounds) and it fits him perfectly and he definitely has room to grow. The fit is very trim and I can tell that he is much more comfortable in a cloth diaper rather than a disposable.
So, let's get to the important part: laundry, leaks, and other scary stuff. I was scared for nothing. That's the truth. We never had one leak from the Apple Cheeks diaper...not one. We have used it several times as a pocket diaper with the inserts and it did an excellent job of containing everything inside the diaper. It works awesome as a diaper cover too, but I really like the convenience of a pocket diaper. The diaper also washes beautifully-so far no stains.
Here's my final opinion: Are disposables easier? Yes, because there's no washing involved, but that's it. Now, ask me the really important question: Is cloth diapering worth the extra step? Absolutely. It's better for our planet, babies, and saves money. I will definitely cloth diaper my next baby and Apple Cheeks reusable diapers are awesome! Not only are they soft and comfy for Lucas, but they are easy to use and do their job! Not to mention that for newbies, Apple Cheeks give you all the support you need to be successful at cloth diapering!

I must tell you, I usually just enter giveaways for the fun of it, but I really am grateful for your review on this product. We are expecting our first baby in Oct, and I have been considering cloth diapers. I would LOVE to try these out. Thanks for the information, and the link to Apple Cheeks.
