Monster Room Spray for Kids Afraid to Sleep at Night

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 Posted by Jolly Mom

When I was little, I was always scared of the dark, "monsters under my bed", the bogey man, and pretty much any scary thing I could conjure up. This is a common problem among kids and I think that a great way to alleviate those fears is by parents acknowledging them--not just telling their kids that monsters aren't real. Also, one idea is to give kids things that will help them through the night--like a nightlight, flashlight, stuffed animals, a comfort item, or even by spraying the room for monsters right before bed!

Monster Room Spray

You will need:
  • Clean spray bottle that is free of any labels, etc. {Tip: you can buy nice ones at the dollar store!}
  • Print a label {you can use mine or create your own} & attach to bottle.
  • Fill spray bottle with water.
  • Add a few drops of lavender essential oil.
Note: Click on the image above to download pdf file. The label prints on Avery 5164.

    I have totally done this! And it works so great! My son hasn't hit that stage yet, but my daughter made us spray EVERYTHING...lol. We added a little bit of glitter powder for a visual effect, too. (but not too much...it might get messy!) ;)

    I did this when my youngest was little - it worked perfect...... I even added one drop of food coloring, too - green, it was his favorite color and the "monsters" were afraid of green!!
