Of course, more than anything, both Felicia and I realize that although gifts are a lot of fun, the true spirit of Christmas is not about that at all. It is about making memories, friends, family, and spending time with our loved ones.

I have so many favorite Christmas memories, but here is one that stands out at the moment. If you have been following my blog for a while, you probably know that I am Hispanic--born in Uruguay. We actually celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve or what we call--Noche Buena. My mom always went the extra mile to make sure that Christmas was amazing. Magical. Anyhow, believe it or not--we always opened our gifts at midnight. When the clock struck 12, there would always be a bell that would start to ring somewhere in the house. My brothers and I would start to look for the bell--knowing that finding the bell meant finding our gifts from Santa. Sometimes the gifts were with the bell, sometimes they weren't, but a clue was left letting us know where to look. Over the years, the gifts popped up everywhere you can imagine--in closets, garage, on the roof {yes--the roof LOL}, even at a neighbor's house.
The time that I remember the most is one year when I was about 5 or 6 years old, "Santa" brought me about 20 dolls. No joke. I found the bell along with a huge pile of presents that had been stacked to resemble the shape of a Christmas tree. As a little girl, I remember feeling like I had walked right into the Santa's Workshop. I could not believe my eyes. Package after package was a doll that I wanted. Rainbow Brite. Strawberry Shortcake. Barbie. It was amazing. What's even more amazing is that my mother must have started shopping at the beginning of the year to be able to afford all of that.

What a sweet and wonderful thing your mother did for you... She must have been thinking of you all year as she picked out all those dolls all year long.

My favorite Christmas Memory; I never could sleep on Christmas Eve,so I lay awake until the house was all asleep,an crawl to the tree an silently open my gifts an then tape them back an see what Santa had left unopened under the tree,it was years before they discovered how come I never was suprised on Christmas morning, until one year they hid in the dark an waited to see what I was doing,an I WAS CAUGHT! that was the last year for that,no fun since they knew my scheme!
