Some of you may remember back when I reviewed the Shark Steam Mop several months ago. I fell in LOVE with it and since then--it is the ONLY way that we mop our floors. Truly. Not only is it healthier and environmentally friendly, but steam gets floors really clean--no pushing dirty mop water around, no chemicals, no leftover film--just clean. I didn't think anything could top it, but Shark came out with a new steam mop, the Steam Pocket Mop and they have actually improved on their previous model quite a bit.

As their previous Steam Mop {which is still available for purchase}, the new Steam Pocket Mop has many of the same great features. Both are obviously very "green" ways to clean since all they use is regular tap water rather than harsh chemicals and cleaners. They both come with a carpet glider, which is used to freshen and deodorize carpets and they both produce steam within 30 seconds. However, the new Pocket Steam Mop is a better mop for several reasons.

First of all, the pad is actually 2-sided, which allows you to clean your floors with one side and disinfect your floors with the other side. Clean with one side--FLIP over--and disinfect with the other. The result is a cleaner floor! The mop head is also much larger--50% bigger actually--so it cleans a larger area at one time. The original steam mop didn't come with any extra head attachments {besides the carpet glider and regular rectangular head}, but the new Pocket Steam Mop comes with a triangle head attachment that fits into small areas, the carpet glider, and the large open area attachment.


One extra that it comes with that I LOVE is the purple duster pad for hardwood floors. It is awesome and I use it all the time since my house has mostly hardwood floors! Another very welcome new feature is that Shark made the water reservoir bigger and you also don't need a funnel to pour the water in anymore. With the previous Steam Mop, I did have to fill the reservoir twice in order to clean the floors downstairs and now, I only have to fill the tank once. Also, the new Pocket Steam Mop has a telescoping, adjustable handle, which my husband really appreciates and the cord is much longer at 30 feet, which I LOVE!

All in all, I would have to say that the new Shark Steam Pocket Mop is a much better mop than the original. That's saying a lot since I already loved the original! It is a little higher priced at $119 versus the original, which is $99, but the extra money is worth it if you are deciding on which of the two you should buy.
