Thanksgiving and Holiday Meals for $20 at Walmart! {Giveaway}
I'm sure that just about everyone has their Thanksgiving menu and shopping done by now, but for those of you that still have some things to pick up--you should head to Walmart. They are running a really helpful and welcome deal right now--a Thanksgiving Feast for $20! Seems impossible, doesn't it? I was blown away when I found out that Walmart has turkeys for 40 cents a pound! And, I thought I was getting a good deal at 69 cents a pound. According to a survey by the American Farm Bureau Federation, last year’s average cost of a turkey was roughly $1.19 per pound so that is a huge savings from last year! These turkeys are part of Walmart’s $20 Thanksgiving menu guaranteeing family favorites will be on the dinner table this holiday season. Walmart’s $20 Thanksgiving feast includes:

* One 12-pound Grade A turkey*
* Three 11 to 15.5-ounce cans Green Giant vegetables
* Two 14-ounce cans Ocean Spray cranberry sauce
* Three 6-ounce boxes of Stove Top stuffing
* One 5-pound bag of red potatoes
* One 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls
* One 22-ounce pumpkin roll cake
Walmart has even set up a Holiday Meals website where you can find holiday recipes, menu ideas, and money saving tips. You should check it out when you get a chance--plus, one of my favorite Food Network stars and fellow mom--Melissa d'Arabian is there sharing her wonderful tips!

I know that families across the country will appreciate what Walmart is offering--it is definitely a much needed relief to be able to save money and make sure to get a delicious meal on the table for the holidays. We started hosting Thanksgiving two years ago so we are always looking for ways to save for Thanksgiving, the rest of the holidays, and honestly--throughout the entire year. One way that we save money is by clipping coupons and pairing them with sales. This is truly the best way to save. Another thing that I do is to make as much as possible from scratch. Prepackaged is usually more expensive! Using fresh veggies like potatoes, sweet potatoes, and green beans to round out the meal helps a lot because they are filling and affordable--not to mention HEALTHY.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Walmart. In addition, I received a Walmart gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate and two to offer as a giveaway.

Not the most original, but I shop throughout the year. I listen to my friends and family when we are out shopping or talking about things they like... I write it down (because I will forget otherwise) and find them on sale....whenever possible.

My sneakiest way to save is to eat elsewhere. It usually works out that I have invitations throughout the holiday anyway. It seems I actually spend less for groceries in November and December.

Buy fresh corn in the summer, cut it off the cob, and freeze it for use in the winter. Better and cheaper than canned corn! Also keep an eye out for weeks before Thanksgiving for any non-perishable items you may need for the big meal, and stock up when they're on sale.

Buy groceries ahead of time when they are on sale and use coupons!

I start seriously watching the grocery store ads about 2 months before the holidays, noting the lowest sale prices on things I'll want for holiday dinners. Then, as it gets closer to the actual holiday, I'll ONLY buy when the items I want get to (or below) those prices. I also stock up thru out the years on those super low sale priced items.

I buy and freeze/preserve fruits and veggies in the summer when they're local, yummy and inexpensive and I incorporate them into our holiday dinners. asthenight at gmail dot com

I like to have Potluck meals

Split the meal up among members. Everyone takes a dish and spread out the cost. Make only one vegetable and one desert. Throw nothing(food) away.

I use coupons, make gravy from scratch from the turkey juices, instead of buying gravy. I leave out fancy ingredients if they are not necessary.
Happy Holidays!

Hold potlucks. It means less work in the kitchen and sharing the cost among friends and family. Plus you never know when you'll find a new favorite recipe.

I do everything I can a day ahead, for instance instead of preparing and baking rolls on Thanksgiving day, I make overnight rolls that you prepare the day ahead, let rise in the refrigerator overnight, then I only have to bake them on Thanksgiving. Thanks for the chance to win.

I make out my dinner menu and look at the ads to see what is on sale. Then I go through my coupons to see how much I can save. We usually have our dinner guests bring a dish to pass, which also helps out a ton. Thanks so much for such a wonderful and generous giveaway!

We try to make only what we know we can eat that day and maybe one more day except for Turkey. I hate to waste mac and cheese or mashed potatoes after 4 days of not eating them.
Thanks
