Fisher Price Plug N Play Video Games: 3-in-1 Smart Sports and Splatster Review
Now that Lucas is getting older, I can really appreciate the convenience of plug-n-play video games. They are easy to travel with, easy to use, and they are affordable. No matter what we do our kids will always want to play video games sooooo if they are going to play them, then at least we can get them to play ones that still keep them active. The 3-in-1 Smart Sports by Fisher Price is like a Wii for preschoolers. The 3 in 1 Smart Sports is an interactive game system that comes with a bat for baseball, a racket for tennis, and a club for golf.

The system allows you to attach a different sports piece for a different game. The games respond to your child’s swing of the bat, racket, or club. The sensor is really strong, which I love because it allows Lucas to just play without having to stand on one exact spot.

The games are really cool--they are fun and really educational--teaching concepts like colors, counting, math and matching.

Lucas is still young for this game--he is two and the game is for ages 3-7. We went ahead and tried it though {couldn't resist} and it is definitely a bit too difficult for him right now. He is working on it though and seems to get a better hang of it each time he plays. You should see him swing the bat--he goes in a complete circle LOL. He really does like it though and it is a game that I will enjoy seeing him grow into. MSRP $60.00

The Splatster is another great interactive video game system by Fisher Price. The Splatster gives kids a paintbrush style wand which allows them to create their very own masterpieces on TV.

It includes everything from educational games to plain blank canvases that your kids can draw on with paint, stamp on with animal shapes, or make a mess on with food. It even makes sound effects so your kid can plop ice cream, splat paint, or spray whipped cream. Kids basically move the wand around to draw and paint or flick it to make a "splat".

Another cool thing about this system is the USB port on the back that allows you to hook up a flash drive or computer to save those wonderful works of art. The only issue that I had is that you need to be fairly specific with where and how you point and move the brush for the sensor to read it properly. Once you get used to that and figure it out, it works fine. Lucas loves this system and can play with it fairly independently already, even at his age. While the Splatster doesn’t promote as much motion as 3-n-1 Smart Sports and other active video game systems, it seems to hold the advantage of never getting boring, which with kids can be half the battle. Plus, anything that allows kids to be creative is a winner in my book! MSRP: $55.00
