AirWear Lenses: Lighter. Thinner. {virtually} Unbreakable. Eco friendly. {Review}
If you're a parent that wears eyeglasses, you will know what I'm talking about when I say that glasses and kids do not make a very happy combination. What is it about glasses that babies and kids like sooooo much? Ever since Lucas was a baby, he was always trying to yank my glasses off. Now that he's older, he STILL does it and has almost broken them on many occasions. You know--I should rephrase. It's not kids and glasses that don't "get along". It's really being a busy mom or parent that doesn't "mesh" well with wearing glasses. We're busy. On the go. Glasses get dropped. Broken. Scratched. They get lost or...ahem...taken by our kids. Or, they end up at the bottom of our diaper bags or purses. Glasses don't stand a chance. Not good considering the high price tag that prescription eye glasses come with!

That's why I am so excited to tell you about Airwear lenses! Mom Central introduced me to them and they are amazing for so many reasons. Airwear lenses are polycarbonate lenses—which is actually the same material used to make CDs, DVDs and bulletproof glass. First of all, they are lighter and more impact- and scratch- resistant than standard plastic lenses. This isn't just a little difference either. Airwear lenses are 43% lighter and 10 times more impact resistant than standard plastic lenses.

Believe it or not, they are also virtually unbreakable. This makes them the perfect lenses for athletes and even children. Plus, they also offer complete UV protection! Another cool fact is that Airwear lenses are made using environmentally conscious practices such as 100 percent recycled water, 100 percent recyclable packaging, and the company re-purposes unused materials in other industries. With these new, green practices Airwear conserves millions of gallons of water and eliminates 570,000 pounds of plastic waste every year!
Thanks to Mom Central and Airwear, I--or actually my husband--got to try out the lenses. We sent Airwear a pair of frames and they sent back the frames with some new spiffy lenses. I have to tell you that these lenses are the best that I have seen. Both Mike and I have really bad eyesight so we always have to order the thinnest and lightest lenses available. I thought that I knew what the "lightest" out there was and that was what we had on our glasses. Not so. The Airwear lenses are much lighter.
Here's Mike sporting his new glasses, which he LOVES as you can tell by the grin on his face LOL.

Want It: You can get Airwear lenses at most eyecare professionals across the United States. Just make sure to ask for them by name. For more information, please visit AirWear.com.
