Turn Color Into Music with Musicolor {Review}

I remember when I was in school, my favorite class was music. Even though we learned a lot in music class--from the obvious like musical notes, songs, experimented with instruments--there were other lessons learned too. Everything from math when we learned to count notes and keep a steady rhythm to the bonds we formed with our classmates as we practiced for a school performance. Unfortunately, music programs are being cut across schools in America and many kids do not get the same opportunity we did. It's a shame because music is a part of all of our lives. It can lift us up, make us get up and dance, laugh, cry, and more. As a mom, I want Lucas to reap the benefits of music so even now at only 2 years old, I do everything I can to ensure that music is a part of his life. That's why when I heard about Musicolor by Delta Creative, I truly jumped at the chance of reviewing it! Even though Lucas is too young right now to enjoy it, I was so intrigued about a toy that lets children turn color into music!
About Musicolor:
Musicolor is really one of the most interesting and innovative toys I have seen in a while. It looks like a record player, but the technology is leaps and bounds ahead of a record player! The Musicolor music player consists of a rotating base and an arm for reading the music discs, much the same as a DVD player reads a DVD. The arm scans over the colored areas of the music disc rotating on the music player, reads the color and translates it to sound. The player also has three instrument sounds--piano, violin and trumpet.
It comes with the Musicolor player, 8 music note markers, 14 preprinted Song Discs, 5 Create-a-Song Discs and 1 pre-colored song disc. Each preprinted disc is set up like Paint by Number except each space has a letter and each marker represents that letter or musical note--A-G.
You color the preprinted song discs with the appropriate colored marker, place it on the player, press play, and the colors are turned into music.
Includes child favorite songs like Three Blind Mice, Hickory Dickory Dock, London Bridge, Old McDonald, Jingle Bells, Humpty Dumpty, I'm a Little Teapot, and many more.Musicolor even comes with blank discs so kids can create their own songs.
I love this idea so much because it combines two things kids love--coloring and music! Since Lucas is too young, I tried it out myself and it is a lot of fun! The player itself functions really well--even forgiving a lot of my coloring outside of the lines. I think the Musicolor is truly a great way to teach kids about music, be creative, and have fun! For parents that homeschool, the Musicolor would definitely come in very handy!
