Everyone that knows me {including you guys}, knows that I am a foodie. My entire family is, really. I mean, even Lucas loves to cook and watches cooking shows with me. As much as I love to cook, I also believe in taking a break. In calling upon convenience when life gets too busy and chaotic. This pretty much happens on a weekly basis. At some point during every week, I can't cook dinner from scratch. When that happens, I prefer to rely on ready made meals that I can pick up at the grocery store rather than take out or delivery. I always look for brands that are made with real ingredients and that I can feel good about serving my family. That's why I love Michael Angelo's frozen Italian meals.

Biggest tip was to wash the dishes as you use them while preparing your meals or baking. Makes cleanup so much easier. Also when cooking with Acid based sauces such as tomatoes sauces.. add a little sugar to balance out the acid... just add about a teaspoon of sugar.
Cooking adds spice to life. Bon Appetite!

Add a pinch of baking soda to your icing. It’ll keep it moist, and prevent cracking. I still do this today – I hate “crusty” icing.

To enter, share a cooking tip you learned from your mother
cut a small piece off the end of a cucumber before peeling it. rub both cut ends of the cuke together to remove bitterness from the cuke. You will see a white foam bubble up around the edges as you rub them together. This is the acidic bitterness. When the foaming stops, wash the cuke, peel it, and viola, you'll never have another bitter cuke again!!

Add fresh baking soda to water when you boil eggs. After boiling, let them eggs cool. Break off a small hole at the SMALL end and a little larger hole at the LARGE END.
BLOW INTO THE SMALL END, and the whole egg will pop out of the large end, all peeled and in one lovely piece!!!! Easiest egg peeling EVER.

My tasty tip I learned from my mom is to always use sea salt instead of kosher salt! It adds more flavor and depth!

My mom told me when making peach pie, if you buy peaches from the grocery and they are a little hard, put them in a paper bag closed up for a couple of days and they will ripen and be sweet.

My mother’s best kept cooking tip is that a little bit of sugar in her homemade pasta sauce makes it taste just right.

I've learned SO much from my mom from canning veggies, to baking and cooking. I still ask her advice quite often! One thing that sticks out is to test yeast before baking bread. Put the yeast in the warm water with sugar and give it a little time...if it's alive...it'll grow! :-)
