Revolutionary Air Purification Developed by NASA: Airocide Air Purifier Review #samp

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that Lucas has asthma and allergies. He’s allergic to pollen, dust mites, pet hair, and more. He has extremely sensitive skin and will break out in hives for the smallest of allergic interactions. Living in Georgia where the pollen gets really bad in the Spring and Summer, it is difficult to keep Lucas feeling good. He is literally sneezing and coughing all the time, which is really hard on a kid who is sport-obsessed and loves to play baseball, soccer, basketball and just be a boy. We manage it with allergy medicine, breathing treatments, and also making sure the air he breathes inside of the house is as clean as possible – especially in his room where he sleeps. An air purifier is a must for us. However, considering that according to the EPA – the air inside the home is up to 5 times more polluted than outdoors – I’d say that an air purifier is a must for everyone. We recently got the opportunity to test out the Airocide Air Purifier and it is AMAZING. Why? Because it works and has years of results to back it up.

airocide-3.jpg.492x0_q85_crop-smart

The Airocide Air Purifier eliminates the following from the air:

  • Clears the air of virtually 100% of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) – the harmful gasses emitted by products you have around your home, like aerosol sprays, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, hobby supplies, dry-cleaned clothing, building materials, paints and paint thinners, strippers, pesticides and even air fresheners.
  • Eliminates all mold, fungi, viruses and bacteria (all major causes of allergy symptoms) that enter the chamber. All that exits is clear, crisp air.

The Airocide Air Purifier is different from any other purifier we’ve used before because it is NOT a filter. That means there aren’t any filters to clean or replace, which is a real pain to remember to do. Lucas’ previous air purifier, we had to clean the filter on a monthly basis. Plus, it made all sorts of sounds any time a particle got stuck in the filter – a kind of zapping sound. Not only was it annoying, but when Lucas was younger – the sound scared him and we’d end up having to turn it off. With the Airocide, all you have to do is remember to replace the chamber once per year. And, it doesn’t make any zapping sounds. LOVE.

How It Works:

Airocide draws in harmful airborne pathogens and forces them into a densely packed matrix of highly reactive catalysts that are activated by a high intensity 254-nanometer light. The reaction destroys these harmful pathogens on contact. Nothing is captured so there is nothing to clean. All that exits is crisp, clear air, with zero ozone emissions.

The Airocide technology is FDA approved and was actually developed by NASA. They needed to eliminate ethylene gas so NASA engineers and the University of Wisconsin partnered up to find a solution. The result was the Airocide technology. As a result, now food packers, florists and grocery chains have been using Airocide since 1998 to extend the shelf life of flowers, fruits and vegetables (as much as ten days) by eliminating the ethylene gas trapped in storage facilities and refrigerators.

In 2003 Airocide was introduced into hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms, dental offices and daycare centers to help stop the spread of infectious disease. Further studies consistently demonstrate dramatic reductions in mold and bacteria counts.

Proven Results

The Airocide technology is backed by 12 years of scientific testing in the United States, field use on the Space Station, lab studies and case studies. You can read about them more in detail HERE.

Snapshot of Results:

  • Surgery – average results 73% reduction in bacteria and mold
  • Office – average results 72% reduction in bacteria and mold
  • Households – average results 75% reduction in bacteria and mold
  • Childcare Center – average results 60% reduction in bacteria and mold
  • Dental Private Practices – average results 81% reduction in bacteria and mold

Now, this same technology is available for residential use with the Airocide Air Purifier. We’ve been testing out the Airocide for a couple of months now and we can honestly say that we see a big improvement in Lucas. He has been sniffling and coughing less when he sleeps…even now that pollen season is in full force in Georgia. The air in his room feels cleaner if that makes any sense. I can actually notice a difference in the air from his room to the other rooms in the house.

Another great thing about the Airocide? It looks pretty darn cool too. I mean…just look at it…

You don’t expect an air purifier to look this good, but the Airocide is a perfect example for form meeting function. Here it is in Lucas’ room…very sleek and modern…

The Airocide is priced at $799 so it’s definitely an investment, but it’s an investment into your family’s health and that is totally worth it. You can try the Airocide risk-free for 60 days though so there’s really nothing to lose.

World’s Safest & Funnest Trampoline! JumpSport Elite Trampoline (Review)

I think as a parent one of my biggest challenges is trying to find fun, new things for Lucas to do – without having to take him somewhere and spend money. I know many kids would gladly adhere themselves to the TV or some sort of “i” device for hours, but that is not my idea of time well spent. Sometimes yes, but certainly not all the time. It’s important that kids and adults alike get up and get moving. Thankfully, Lucas loves to play outside and like most 4 year old’s — he has a bundle of energy to burn. That’s why I was beyond thrilled when I got the opportunity to review the JumpSport Elite trampoline! It is the perfect thing get the entire family moving and have lots of fun in the process!

I wasn’t the only one that was excited — let’s just say that my hubby, Mike was ecstatic and pretty much acted like a kid in a candy store when I told him the news. There aren’t words to describe Lucas’ level of excitement. Lucas loves to jump — on his bed, into the pool, on top of me (lol), and he literally goes crazy over bounce houses. Anytime we are anywhere near a bounce house he zones in on it like he has a built in bounce house tracking system. So naturally when we told him that we were getting a trampoline, he went crazy with excitement. We finally got it assembled a few days ago and he was blown away. His mouth hung open without making a sound for almost a full minute. It was awesome!

Since we assembled the trampoline, we haven’t stopped jumping — especially Lucas who wakes me up in the morning asking, “Mommy, can I go jump now?”

Even Mike and I love jumping — it honestly makes you feel like you’re a kid again! Plus, it’s a real workout and calorie burner, which is also a nice caveat.

Now onto the actual trampoline — we received the 12 foot JumpSport Elite Trampoline to review. For us, it is the perfect size. Not too big, but not too small. We found the perfect spot in the yard so it doesn’t take up a ton of space. Set up took several hours. I will let Mike explain to you about what it was like to put it together, but it seemed to be pretty pain free.

Hello everyone, this is Mike. I was equally excited to get the trampoline. I always wanted one as a kid and now we have one of the best you can buy so yeah — I am definitely excited. I. of course, was tasked with putting the trampoline together. I must admit I was a little intimidated at first, having never put together something so big. And though it did take a few hours, it was really easy. The directions suggest that you use two people, but if you are even slightly handy, you can most definitely do it with one. The actual main body of the trampoline doesn’t even take any tools for assembly. It goes together fairly quickly and once assembled is still light enough to be moved by a couple of well-abled people (I assembled it in the driveway and then Piera and I moved it into position before I attached the net). Next was the assembly of the safety net, which takes a bit more time, but is no harder to do. With the net all in place and everything strapped and tightened up, the ladder was last. No sooner did I have that ladder attached (which is an accessory) and Lucas was climbing inside a bouncing away. If there is one piece of advice I can give when assembling, it’s to read the directions. I know that is something us guys have a hard time doing, but in order to properly attach both the springs and the net, you really do have to read the directions!

“Jolly Dad” (aka: my hubby, Mike LOL) Reviews the JumpSport Elite Trampoline

The JumpSport Elite Trampoline is one the best AND safest trampolines you can buy. JumpSport’s Elite line of Trampolines comes in 10’, 12’, and 14’ sizes. All JumpSport Elite Trampolines are made out of high quality steel tubing and all come with Staged Bounce Technology. Most trampoline injuries occur on the trampoline while jumping. Staged Bounce Technology engages half the springs a half a second after the first half making impact on your body much easier. The safety net is by far my favorite feature and honestly I wouldn’t allow Lucas to jump on a large size trampoline without one. The net is attached internally to poles that are attached to the body of the trampoline so there is no way of falling to the ground if you happen to land against the net (Mike tested this out, and I can report no injuries). This is really important because there are trampolines on the market with nets, but the nets do not work. The person jumping hits the net and the net gives and the person obviously hits the ground. This can result is serious injuries. The JumpSport’s net even overlaps at the entrance, so you can’t fall out there either. And of course the frame, poles, and all the springs are covered with a thick padding so if you do hit those spots — you don’t get hurt. All told I don’t see how they could make it any safer. Two very ecstatic thumbs up from me!!

On top of all the fantastic safety features and the out-of-the-box coolness and fun factor, the JumpSport Trampolines can be used with a variety of cool accessories to make jumping even more fun. They sell a basketball & hoop attachment so your kids can learn to slam dunk at an early age. They sell a tent attachment to turn your trampoline into an outdoor camper, and they even have a misting system designed to lower temperatures at your trampoline by as much as 25 degrees.

There are literally a ton of accessories and game attachments, so it’s best if you just check out their site and see for yourself everything they have to offer. Click to see the trampoline accessories.

Finally, a Pillow You Can Wash: Aller-Ease’s Washable Allergy Protection Pillow (HUGE Giveaway)

Have you ever tried to wash your pillows? Probably didn’t go so well did it? I ruin several pillows per year because I wash them and the result is a lumpy pillow that has been rendered useless. With Spring upon us now, we are getting ready to do our yearly Spring cleaning and that includes washing all of our pillows except this time we won’t be ruining our pillows. We have Aller-Ease Washable Allergy Protection Pillows and they are truly washable.
Check out the before and after…

the pillow is actually fluffier than it was before I put it in the washer. Pretty incredible! No lumps, no ruined pillow…just a clean, lump-free pillow! The unique fiber in the Aller-Ease Washable Pillow maintains its shape and refluffs after every wash. I’m not the only one that loves it — Good Housekeeping ranked Aller-Ease’s Washable Pillow numero 1!

The pillow is also able to be washed in the hot water cycle so you can really get rid of germs, bacteria, etc…

The other thing on my mind now that it’s Spring are allergies. The pollen has been insane here in Georgia this year. We actually broke records this year and the Spring has literally just started. Lucas has asthma and seasonal allergies so the poor kiddo has really been suffering. However, his bed has an Aller-Ease mattress protector and one of the Aller-Ease Washable Allergy Protection Pillows, which protects against household allergens and pollen so at least I know he is getting a good and restful night’s sleep.

Aller-Ease Washable Pillow can be purchased online at Aller-Ease.com and retails for $13.49.

NEW by Sony! The BDP-SX1000 Portable Blu-ray Player (Review & Giveaway)

We all know that there is only one thing that can keep a family from going crazy on a really long road trip….A DVD PLAYER!!! There are all sorts of DVD players and entertainment systems that you can have custom installed in your car, but what we have been dying for is a portable DVD player. That way we can use it in the car, but we can also use it outside of the car as well (vacations, hotels, rental homes, at grandma’s, etc). We recently got the wonderful opportunity to review the Sony BDP-SX1000 Portable Blu-ray Player and it is one of our new favorite things!

The fact that it is a blu-ray player is beyond awesome because Mike has been making sure that our blu-ray collection grows LOL. He is actually a movie buff and collector so he has even gone out and replaced DVDs with the new Blu-ray versions. Plus, all the new movies we buy are always in Blu-ray and as you guys know–not all Blu-rays come with a DVD copy so a Blu-ray player is a MUST for us!

Surprisingly, there actually aren’t that many portable Blu-ray players on the market, but that doesn’t matter because this new Sony is AWESOME. Sony is obviously a name we all trust when it comes to electronics and they didn’t disappoint with their Blu-ray player either! The Sony BDP-SX1000 Portable Blu-ray Player has all the features you would want. It has a huge (and I mean huge) 10.1 inch screen that swivels completely and even folds flat against the player. It also has both a standard audio/video output & an HDMI output (a lot of other portable Blu-ray players don’t come with any outputs) so you can easily hook it up a TV and a remote control as well. This is a must-have feature for us! We love to take movies with us on trips, but many places that we stay don’t have DVD players (and they never have Blu-ray players), so it was really important to us that could be hooked up to a TV and be used as a standard player. Like most portable players it comes with a charger for both the car and the home, but the Sony’s batteries also recharge to offer up to 5 hours of use. That’s at least two movies! And finally one of the coolest features is the USB port so you can play other videos, movies, and music on the go.
So if you are looking for some peace and quiet on those long road trips or a portable player to take with you on vacation, then I would definitely recommend the Sony. It has become the first thing we grab whenever we go on a trip. Love it!
