Celebrating NEW Shimmer & Shine Toys with a Party #ShimmerandShineParty

Disclosure 1

Amelia is a 3-year old little girl who does not like dolls. I’ve tried to get her to play with all sorts of dolls since she was a baby, but they’ve ALL been a no go until recently. She started watching the hit Nickelodeon show Shimmer and Shine and now she can’t get enough of the dolls and toy collection. She literally has the DVD on repeat! As a parent, I also love the show because it has such a positive message and encourages teamwork, problem-solving skills, and resilience. Plus, it’s such a cute show with adorable characters!

IMG_0647

Last week, we partnered with Nickelodeon to celebrate the launch of the new Shimmer and Shine collection at Target with a party. We invited all of Amelia’s cousins and they got to play with a bunch of fun, new Shimmer and Shine goodies. They had a BLAST.

IMG_1010

They enjoyed some yummy treats…

IMG_0887

IMG_0914

and, they got to play with lots of new Shimmer and Shine toys. This was the best part, of course!

You can check out all of the new toys in the unboxing video below, but let me tell you one of the favorites was definitely the Shimmer and Shine Wish & Spin Doll. The dolls are available in Shimmer or Shine and they spin and sing songs and even grant a wish when you press the genie bottle (or clap). Their hair is silky soft and gorgeous. All the girls loved these dolls!

Affordable & Adorable Kids’ Spring Fashion Line #MixAndMatchValue #Garanimals

Disclosure 1

Kids go through clothes at warp speed. From babyhood to around 6 or 7 years old, you have to buy kids new clothes every season because they literally outgrow last year’s wardrobe. At about 6 or 7 years old, Lucas’ clothing started fitting for longer periods, but it didn’t matter anyways because most of his clothes would get destroyed during school recess or sports practice. It’s the same situation with Amelia now! I buy her a new wardrobe every season. EVERY SEASON. And look…it’s fun. She’s a girl and there are so many cute things, but…it can be expensive. That’s why I have always loved the Garanimals line of clothing at Walmart. It’s cute, affordable and lasts!

Today, I want to show you how affordable and cute Garanimals really is! With each piece priced between $3-$5, I was able to put together about fifteen outfits from the nine pieces (five tops/4 bottoms) I received for $40. Repeat after me…FIFTEEN outfits for $40. That’s crazy, right?!

Garanimals Collage

Beyond being AFFORDABLE, Garanimals is also super cute and on-trend. I love the bright colors and sweet details like bows, ruffles, and glitter – all of the things that little girls love. Plus, everything is also age appropriate, which is so important to me as a parent.

About Garanimals:

Garanimals was born in 1972 out of the idea that there is a positive connection between how children dress and how they feel about themselves.

Garanimals was founded on a simple but unique concept: to help parents affordably dress their young children in comfortable clothing that is easy to mix and match. Each Garanimals line may be mixed and matched as separates, and the color and style mix and match with any piece within that line.

Where To Purchase:

The Garanimals line can be found exclusively at Walmart.com or at Walmart stores. Visit walmart.com for additional information.

NOTE: This is not a promotion but rather an approximation of how many outfits can be created for $40.

NEW Toys by Blaze & the Monster Machines

Disclosure 1

As the holidays quickly approach, we are already starting to think about gift-giving. On our list to give this year are the adorable and fun new line of Blaze and the Monster Machines toys available at Target and other major toy retailers. Why do we love them so much? Besides being cute and lots of fun, these toys are also educational. They teach kids about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) concepts. It’s really important that we encourage children to learn more about these subjects. We need more scientists, inventors, and engineers – they are our future!

IMG_5870

The new Blaze toys offer a cool way for kids to learn while they play! That’s the best way, right?! We are super excited to introduce you to two brand new toys in the Blaze line. First up is the new Blaze Monster Dome Playset (RV $29.99), which is a race track that allows kids to create side-by-side races between Blaze and Crusher.

IMG_6010

The STEM concepts learned via the Blaze Monster Dome, include speed and momentum, which are illustrated by using the two launchers. Basically, kids place the two vehicles on the launchers, push down, and off they go! Kids of all ages love toys that allow them to race each other, so the Blaze Monster Dome will be a definite hit among young Blaze fans. Two children can race the two vehicles or one child can play on their own too. Kids can even take the set apart and piece together their own stunt set. As a parent, I really love that it doesn’t need any batteries and relies on pure imagination.

IMG_5968

IMG_5987

The Super Stunts Blaze (RV $39.99) is full of action – just like on the TV show – and is A LOT of fun. This toy can do some really impressive stunts that will wow kids and even adults.

IMG_5921

It speeds up, does side-wheelies, back-wheelies, and even does a 360 degree spin on his rear tires. Kids press Blaze’s side to choose the stunt and then push down on the spoiler to get Blaze revved for action. The more you press the spoiler, the more power Blaze gets. The Super Stunts Blaze teaches kids all about acceleration.

Both of the toys featured above can be found at Target and other major toy retailers. To see the rest of the Blaze and the Monster Machines toy line, visit Target.com/Blaze.

Let’s Blaaaze! Blaze and the Monster Machines Toy Review

Disclosure 1

Kids are curious little beings. They intently watch and touch and ask questions about the world around them. As parents, it’s our job to help nurture that curiosity and love of learning. The key for both kids (and anyone really) is to keep learning fun. We all learn better when it’s a fun experience! In our home, we really try to stick to toys, apps, games, and TV shows that are entertaining, encourage imagination, and are educational for kids. That’s why we are big fans of Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines, which  follows the adventures of the amazing monster truck Blaze and his eight-year-old driver AJ, and it’s the first preschool show on TV to comprehensively cover all areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) in every episode.

Blaze_and_the_Monster_Machines_logo

So why is STEM so important?

STEM jobs are growing at 1.7 times the rate of non-STEM jobs, and the U.S. is simply not producing enough candidates to fill them. Only 16% of high school seniors are interested in pursuing STEM careers, according to the Department of Education. We need to change these statistics and instill a love of learning in our kiddos. The best way to do that is by showing kids that learning is fun.

Blaze and the Monster Machines is a cute show that both Amelia and even her almost 8 year old brother, Lucas love to watch. The show explores all sorts of STEM topics like how things move, magnetism, physics, tackling problems through science and math, and more. The information is delivered in small bits along with fun music and humor so kids can easily understand the concepts.

And now Blaze fans can play and learn with their favorite characters with a new line of toys launching at Target this August! The highly anticipated toy lineup includes a die cast collection, talking and transforming vehicles, playsets and plush that are as fun and dynamic as the characters featured in the series. Today, I want to show you two of the toys – Talking Blaze and the Diecast Toys.

IMG_4436

Talking Blaze brings to life the STEM concept of sound waves! You press the button on the hood and Blaze says different lines from the show and makes sounds.

IMG_4474

What’s a sound wave? When Blaze talks, his words turn into a sound wave that moves through the air to carry the sound to your ear!

I have always loved Die Cast toys for kids because they really spark imagination and the Blaze Die Cast vehicles are no exception. Kids have fun collecting them and then recreating the scenes from the show. My kiddos loved both of the toys and that even includes, Lucas who is older.

Buy It!

Blaze and the Monster Machines Toys are available at all major retailers and Target. Also, make sure to download your FREE Blaze Playdate Pack complete with invitations, activity sheets, and recipe ideas!

12 Days of Christmas Activities – Day 10 Give Back #12JollyDays

Disclosure 1

12DayOfChristmas_Day10

One of the most important lessons that we want our kids to learn throughout their lives is the importance of community and helping one another and giving back. While these are lessons we encourage year-round, we also make it a point to include several give-back activities during the holidays. Whether it’s running over a batch of cookies to share with our neighbors or picking out a few toys to give to a child in need or baking a batch of treats to deliver to our local fire station, we make sure that Lucas (and Amelia will too when she gets older) is fully involved in the process.

This year, we put together some treats for two of our local fire stations…

IMG_8462

IMG_8470

and then hand delivered the treats right after school.

1IMG_0596

It was a great experience for all of us and a wonderful way to show our gratitude to the men and women who protect us every day. The firefighters were awesome – they gave us a tour of the station and invited Lucas up on the firetruck and let him try their uniform on. He was so excited!

Make some time to give back in some way this holiday season. Your family could sponsor a family in need, buy a few toys for a child-in-need, volunteer at a food bank or drive, deliver treats to your local fire station, write letters to active or wounded military men and women.

12 Days of Christmas Activities – Day 8 Cookies for Santa #12JollyDays

Disclosure 1

12DayOfChristmas_Day8

The tradition of leaving cookies for Santa is one of our favorites. Every year, we pick a day close to Christmas Eve (usually 1-2 days before) and bake a few different types of cookies and treats. We don’t worry about whether the cookies are perfect or misshapen. It’s just about having fun and being together. I like to choose easy recipes that Lucas can mostly do himself.

IMG_7923

IMG_7992

Fun and cute like the treats below!

IMG_8354

On Christmas Eve, we head to my parents for their annual party and when we get home Lucas puts out a plate of cookies and glass of milk for Santa…

IMG_8290

He also likes to leave Santa a note.

“I love you. Your the best. Merry Christmas.” – Lucas

IMG_8096

and, carrots for the reindeer of course!

12 Days of Christmas Activities – Day 5 Ornament Exchange #12JollyDays

Disclosure 1

12DayOfChristmas_Day5

Our Christmas tree is filled with ornaments that represent us. Our family. Our memories. Throughout the year, we collect new ornaments to add to the tree. We buy an ornament at every travel destination. We have ornaments from our trips to Ocean City, Disney World, Disney Land, Chattanooga, and more. Our tree has an ornament marking each year that Mike and I have been married. There’s an ornament for each child’s first Christmas. We have ornaments from when we were kids. Ornaments made by us as a family or by Lucas at school. It’s a beautiful sight to see and it always brings up memories while we trim the tree. We talk about the places we’ve been or remember Lucas’ first Christmas or share stories of our own childhood.

IMG_6472

Each Christmas, we like to give each other special ornaments that mark a milestone or hobby. This year, we have several new ornaments. For Lucas – the gamer and baseball ornaments. Two of his obsessions.

IMG_7481

IMG_7491

For Amelia – the sock monkey and Elmo ornaments. She is obsessed with Elmo lately!

IMG_52509

IMG_7523

For Mike – the beer and griller ornament. Mike loves to brew his own craft beers and he can regularly be found at the grill or smoker making a tasty dinner for us.

IMG_7535

IMG_7530

For Aries (our dog) – a beautiful chocolate lab ornament.

IMG_7520

For Family – a new “The Jollys” ornament marking each member of the family.

IMG_7515

For Me – the photographer and smartphone ornaments. These couldn’t be more perfect, right?!

IMG_7540

Exchanging ornaments is a special tradition that every family can do during the holiday season and will create lasting memories. You could host an ornament exchange party with friends or family, make homemade ornaments with the kids, or if you have an “elf” friend he or she can surprise everyone with a new ornament (our Elf Sherman does this every year, actually).

Make sure to visit PersonalCreations.com to check out their huge variety of personalized Christmas ornaments. They have over 1,000 personalized ornaments – there is literally an ornament for every occasion, milestone, personality, interest, and more.
