Great Wolf Lodge Review {North Carolina}: Things To Do & The Water Park

I know that I have told you guys a lot about The Great Wolf Lodge so far, but I would be remiss if I didn’t include a post about what to do at the Lodge–specifically the main attraction–The Water Park!

The Water Park is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The best way to tell you about it is to show you! Here is a quick video of a few of the rides at the water park.

You probably noticed in the video how the water park is so calm–that’s because we went during the week. I highly recommend visiting during the week so that you and your kids don’t have to wait in lines to ride the slides. We never waited more than a couple of minutes–most of the time there was no waiting at all!

Also, don’t bother taking your child’s life jackets, water wings, or tubes–they are all provided by the Lodge free of charge! Another thing that I have to mention is that the water park is very safe. There are lifeguards everywhere and they are seriously like the Royal Guard {lol}. They are focused in on the kids and nothing breaks their concentration. They are amazing and make you feel very comfortable.

Of course, there are a whole lot of things to do at The Great Wolf Lodge besides the water park. MagiQuest, in particular, is very popular with the kids! It is a one-of-a-kind, live-action adventure game. Armed with high-tech wands, your family must solve magical challenges throughout the resort to gain powers (and points) and move to higher levels of the game. Lucas did not play this game since he is too young for it, but we saw kids excitedly running all over the Lodge with their “wands” in hand. Preschoolers will love Cub Club, where they can do arts and crafts projects with their parents.

Tweens and teens will love the gr8_space Tech Center or the Northern Lights Arcade–there’s even a spa for kids {and one for the adults too!}! There really is something for everyone–young and old–at The Great Wolf Lodge! It’s a must-visit place! You will not be disappointed. Promise.

Orange Lake Resort & Country Club Review Part Two: Things To Do at the Resort

Today, I thought I would tell you about the activities available at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club. Honestly, there is so much to do that it is very difficult to get it all in one post.

Orange Lake Resort has a 12-acre water park with this amazing “lazy river” that takes you under bridges, tropical greenery, fountains, and more. The lazy river is really a huge, heated pool in the shape of a river. It is SO relaxing and a lot of fun. Speaking of pools there are 7 pools at the resort and many of them are zero-entry pools perfect for kids.

We spent a lot of time at Splash Lagoon, which is the perfect place to be if you have young children. There is a large kiddie pool that is under a foot deep with a mushroom fountain and a “dancing interactive fountain” at the entrance. Lucas loved being there!

The resort also houses the world’s largest inflatable water slide, called The Hippo and you’ll find other slides, water basketball, volleyball, live music, and more at the many pools around the resort. Pool towels can be found at all the pools at the resort and they are free.

You can also rent pool side cabanas for a day, which are basically set up like an outdoor family room with mini-refrigerators, food, comfortable seating, and even a TV! For more of a beach feel, head to the 80-acre lake and let the kids play in the sand. You’ll also find Wave Runners, pedal boats, and other water sports available at the lake. Beach lounge chairs are provided for you at no charge.

When you’re ready to get out of the water, there is still so much more to do. Play a round of golf at one of the four courses or get everyone together for a round of Putt-Putt or miniature golf. We took Lucas to play his first round of Putt-Putt here at Orange Lake and he really got into it and had a lot of fun! Also for the kids, there are two arcades, bowling, weekly movies at the resort’s theater, “Dive-In” movies by the pool, and several playgrounds. You also don’t want to miss family activities like the Gatorland Alligator Show where you can meet a gator face-to-face, Iron Chef Competitions, carnival games for kids, and more! For those of you who like to work out on vacation or enjoy playing sports, there are tennis courts, racquetball courts, basketball courts, and three fitness facilities.

For some adults-only time, the resort also offers Parents Day/Night out where you can drop off the kids for a day of arts & crafts and other fun activities so mom and dad can get some alone time. Gotta love that! Dining wise, there are so many options! Orange Lake Resort has ten on-site restaurants ranging from casual, fast food to island inspired dishes. We had dinner at the River Island Grilling Company and at Breezes. Both places were delicious (Lucas loved the strawberry colada-virgin of course, at River Island) and everything was reasonably priced. We spent about $50 (includes the 10% off though Pilar) with tip for the three of us on dinner at each restaurant.

This resort has so much to do, you could stay here for weeks, never leave, and still not do it all. And that doesn’t even cover all there is to do outside of the resort (more on that later). It really feels like you are staying in a small city. There are even complimentary shuttle buses on the property to get you around the resort!

Pilar Morales offers stays at this wonderful resort and thousands more across the world. When staying as a guest of Pilar you are treated as a member of the resort and receive all the perks, access, and discounts that come with it. For example, if book a stay at Orange Lake Resort through Pilar, you will get her 10% owner’s discount at all the restaurants and shops at the resort! It is a great way to take a vacation. Orange Lake Resort & Country Club Review Part 1: The Accommodations

As you know, I’m here at the Orange Lake Resort & Country Club in Orlando, Florida. This amazing review opportunity was made possible by Pilar Morales who offers timeshare resorts to families at hotel prices-50-60% off regular resort rates! One of the many resorts available through Pilar is Orange Lake Resort & Country Club and today I wanted to tell you guys about the accommodations here.

About Orange Lake:
Orange Lake Resort is an upscale, family-friendly resort minutes (as in a few miles) away from Disney parks and attractions. In 2002, Orange Lake was singled out as the first-ever recipient of the American Resort Development Association’s (ARDA) ACE Project of Excellence Award—a special honor bestowed by the organization to the resort judged to be the world’s most outstanding timeshare resort.

The Villas:
If you come to Orange Lake though Pilar, you will get a 2 bedroom 2 bath Villa, which sleeps 8 people. When you check-in, you will be assigned a Villa based on their availability. Many of the Villas have actually been totally renovated with granite counter tops and other features. The one we are staying in is virtually new and in immaculate condition.

The master bedroom has a comfy king size bed and a private full bathroom with a jetted tub and large separate shower. The second bedroom has two beds and a full bathroom right down the hall. Every Villa has a fully equipped kitchen stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils, and everything you need to prepare a home cooked meal. There is also a breakfast bar and a dining area. The living room has a huge sectional sofa that pulls out into a bed. Our Villa also has a screened-in porch, which is where we’ve been spending a lot of our time. It’s great to go out there and eat our meals and not have to worry about bugs. Best of all is the view! We are right off the golf course and it is beautiful!

Rates:
If you rent a 2 bedroom, 2 bath Villa through Orange Lake Resort expect to pay between $251.97 and $304.97 plus state and resort taxes per night. However, if you rent through Pilar Morales, you will only pay $150 per night. For a full week, that is $1,050.00! For one family that is really affordable. Come with two families and it is a steal!
