I just1 from costco on Friday the 16 of december 2011. Our central system broke so temporaryily. Works well although the directions could of been more clear. Anyhow don't what the deal is. Mine came with a reusable washable filter. So not sure why people are saying there is no filter. And best of all it was only 109 dollars. So good deal.

Have owned a Shark Nav for about 6 months and it's a wonderful product. The ONLY fault I could find is with the cord. It's not pliable and kinks badly everytime you roll it up...like a cheap garden hose.

Mine isn't a comment so much as a question. I am currently living in Switzerland and brought my Dyson but not using it as I have to lug around a huge power pack for the conversion. I purchased a machine here and after 2.5 years I am fed up with it. I get Slingbox TV here so get to watch US tv and like what I am seeing on the Navigator. Can't seem to find information here on it. Is it available in Europe with programming for the right power outage. I did find an Ebay.ch site that will ship them here from the US but if I have to lug around a power converter again, I am in the same boat as the Dyson put me in. So is it available in Europe with the right outage and plug for the recepticle in the wall. Anyone?

I bought my Shark Navigator yesterday at Costco. Unfortunately the Costco version does NOT have a HEPA filter. In order to get a Shark with a HEPA, you have to order it from the Shark website. WHY?!?! This is a bummer and makes no sense to me.

Nevertheless, I bought it anyway at Costco, and used it as soon as I got home. It's great - at first I was concerned about the smaller width, but now I like that its smaller size can fit in and around things better than my larger Hoover.

The best thing, for me, is that it's so quiet! I live in a condo and am always paranoid about noise bothering my neighbors under me... so I was pleasantly surprised. With ONE exception - omg, the pet hair attachment (which is great - very powerful) makes a loud whiny sound (like another reviewer here mentioned) that is headache-inducing. But it's just that attachment, so I can live with it especially since it's so effective.

I have not tried it on hardwood yet - just carpet. I don't know if it's really picking up more than other vacuums or if it LOOKS that way because of the transparent can/filter (with my Hoover, everything's hidden in the bag). I DID try it on my tile kitchen floor and it was perfectly fine on it.

My biggest gripe is that there is no retractable cord - I ended up just carrying the loop of cord around as I vacuumed, because the built-in cord holders seemed pretty useless. Very annoying.

The filter/can is very easy to empty right into a garbage can. Like some others, though, I did have to reach in and pull out stuff that was stuck up there. Ick. Well nothing's perfect.

All in all I am reallly pleased with my purchase. Considering the economical price ($120 + 10 tax at Costco, including attachments but not the steam mop) I think this is an amazing value. I'm not gonna expect perfection at that price, and the main thing is, it works and it works great! And is quiet! Therefore I do recommend it to all.

I've been seriously scouring the internet the past couple of days trying to find a new vacuum because I have a 6 1/2 month old who is rolling everywhere & very close to crawling. Because of this plus having 2 dogs I am so glad that I came across your page & all if these reviews!! Just to let everyone know QVC has the lift-away model with different floor/mop attachments- I haven't found these anywhere else. Also, Kohl's sells it & if you find a coupon (plus get it on sale-it is now) it's the best price that I've currently found. Again, thanks for all your reviews- I think I am going to go place my order....hopefully I'll be back to give you my own review in a couple of months.

Thanks to this great review, I purchased a Shark Navigator at Sam's. My house is wood floors, some vinyl, and a few scatter rugs. This vacuum is excellent on all surfaces, and doesn't scratch hardwood floors as the Dyson it replaced.

I just want to say that I ordered one, paid extra for shipping so it would arrive in 5 to 7 days but have nothing to add, because I still don't have it after 2.5 weeks. The customer service representatives are absolutely no help. They can't even tell me where the order is or provide a tracking number. Not impressed and haven't had a chance to use it yet. I just want to say I hate my shark navigator. The brush only rotates part time. That makes the time I have to vacume twice as long. I tried to get cover off to replace the belt (less than a year old) but after removing all the screws i could find, i still could not get the cover off to get to the belt. I also have the Navigator, for two months now, and can't say enough good things about it. Your review is right in step with my personal experience. We have two little girls and myself, all with very long hair, a long-haired dog, and carpet throughout our home (minus bathrooms and small entryway - 1700 sq ft.). My Shark pics up everything, and has not lost any suction. My previous vacuum was a Hoover and it was just 'okay' - once that one quit, I got the Shark a day later at BBB with coupon. I was shocked at how much the Shark picked up out of my carpets - gross! I have to empty my dust cup very often, mainly because most of what I'm vacuuming is hair, so it winds around the little spindle in the dust cup. I also have to maintain my brush head by clearing it of wound hair, but that is no surprise. I have cleaned the washable filters and was pleased with the simplicity of it. The one thing I would love to see on a newer model would be on-board tools. Otherwise this is a great buy!

I could not find any explanation of what the difference between the Shark NV22 and the NV350 is until I read your posting saying that the NV350 is the newer model and is the one on the current infomercial. I just purchased the Navigator a few days ago and have used it twice. I have encountered a few things that I think are unusual and would like to know if other owners have experienced the same thing.

For one, when I used the vacuum on the carpet, the noise it makes made me wonder if there was something wrong with it. The motor does not sound like it's working properly.

The other is the cord. The hose on the back of the vacuum seems to be in the way of the cord hooks. It's awkward to wrap up the cord.

Lastly, the suction on the carpet is so powerful that it becomes difficult to move the vacuum! It's like a magnet to metal. If this isn't enough of a problem, forget vacuuming area rugs. I have to push the vacuum in one direction, then physically pick it up to do the next row. I can't just leave the head on the carpet because it gets stuck.

So does any of this sound familar to anyone?

One thing I have noticed is many people are saying they got it at a store for less. But the model I've seen in stores is the NV22, not the NV350, which is the latest one on the infomercials. I am thoroughly disgusted with customer service at Shark Navigator. I bought it two months ago. It says it has an "anti-tip over" hose holder. Well, that doesn't work when you you are using the hose attachment to vacuum under a couch. Well, low and behold, it tipped over and the piece that holds the hose on while it is in the upright position broke off. When I called Shark, I have to pay $16.95 shipping and handling charge to send the whole unit back to have it fixed. For a $200 vacuum, I expected it to be made a lot better than this. So, I am taking the vacuum back to Sears tomorrow where I purchased it and I'm getting a refund. This is not worth it to me.

THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING A SHARK. Their Customer Service and Technical Assistance Departments are the absolute pits. Following the purchase of a new Shark Navigator, I noted a constant whistling sound coming from the vacuum, a sound that was every bit as loud as the motor itself. I simply wanted to know if the sound was normal for this model or if it might suggest an air leak somewhere in the system. So over the next couple weeks I sent three (3) separate email to these two departments, each one asking that simple question. All three of my emails were ignored. I ultimately contacted their toll-free customer assistance line and asked them my question. I got what can only be described as a non-answer, being told that the whistling noise was "probably" normal. Not being willing to let it go at that, I sent a letter directly to the company's CEO complaining about my experiences and asking him for an answer to the one simple question I had already asked four times. He ignored my letter. Since I could not get an answer to this very simple question and being concerned that the whistle might indicate a problem with the vacuum, I've decided to box up the machine and return it to the store where I purchased it.

Of course, there is the 5 year warranty offered by Shark. That normally would have provided some assurance that if my vacuum failed, I would be protected from a costly repair. However, to take advantage of the warranty, the vacuum and all it's accessories must be returned to Shark along with a check for $16.99. Add the cost of shipping the vacuum back to them, which depending upon how you package it and the shipping method you use, and you'll likely be paying $40 to $50 just to have Shark take a look at your vacuum. However if Shark's Customer Service and Technical Assistance Departments are as bad as they appear to be, then how confident can one be that their Repair Department is any better. It's bad enough sending the vacuum back once and paying $40 to $50 for the privilege, but what if they don't repair it properly and you have to send it back to them again? I'm just not willing to take that chance.

I suggest that you ignore the Shark and instead purchase a vacuum make by a company with a proven track record for efficient and reliable customer service after the sale. Many vacuum manufacturers have local authorized repair stations, so checking to see if local service will be available for the brand you're considering purchasing should probably be the first step you take. As an added precaution, I would suggest that you make you purchase from one of the retailers that offers a 90 day return policy instead of the 30 days offered by many others. You'll at least have 3 months to put you new vacuum to the test and assure yourself that it is performing reliably and meeting your needs and expectations.
