How To Remove Common Laundry Stains

As you guys know, I was chosen to be one of twenty bloggers participating in the Arm & Hammer 2011 Switch & Save Program. The first product I got to try out were the Arm & Hammer’s Essentials Fabric Softener Sheets, which I reviewed last week. Since this first month on the program I have been tasked with the laundry, I thought I would share with you guys some of my best laundry tips gathered through years of trial and error and of course…passed down from my own mom. Naturally, being a mom of a preschool aged boy, I have become a pro at stain removal. Below I’ve listed some common kid stains and what I do to get them out…

Mud Stains: Allow the garment to dry and then brush off as much as the mud as you can. Cover the stain with a laundry stain removal product or with liquid detergent to pre-treat the stain. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then run the garment under cold water. Spray the stain again with stain remover. Place the garment in your washer and wash in cold water. If the stain still remains once it has been washed, then repeat stain removal process starting with step 2. Do not place in the dryer or the stain will set.

Blood Stains: Rinse garment under cold running water and rub with laundry detergent. Repeat until stain comes out. Do not use hot water or the blood stain will set.

Fruit Juice Stains: Immediately run stain under the hottest water safe for the garment. Then soak in a mixture of hot water and an oxygen {color safe} bleach product for 30 minutes. Wash garment in washing machine again using hottest water allowable for the garment.

Grass Stains: Soak in a mixture of cold water and an enzyme laundry product for 30 minutes or until stain is gone. Do not use hot water or the grass stain will set.

This is a sponsored post for Church & Dwight Co., Inc, the maker of ARM & HAMMER branded products, who is paying me to try different products.
