As you all know, last week was National Breakfast Week. I shared a series of healthy and quick nutritious breakfasts for the entire family. I don’t know if you noticed, but many of the recipes either included milk in the recipe or was served with a glass of milk. That’s because we love milk in our household! It is pretty much always a part of our breakfast.

Why do we love milk so much?

We love milk because it is delicious.

We love milk because it is good for you. It’s good for your body. Good for your bones. (And, while obviously not for breakfast…a cold glass of milk paired with warm chocolate chip cookies is also good for the soul.)

We love milk because it packs a pretty good protein punch and protein helps you feel satisfied and fuller longer. That way I am not starving before lunch!

  11. Great tips! My five-year old LOVES cow’s milk, and I’m slightly obsessed with almond milk. My two-year old is not a huge fan of milk, but we’re working on it. He does love smoothies in which I add milk and yogurt, so let’s hope he’s getting enough calcium that way.

  12. I grew up in a house full of big milk-drinkers, which became difficult when I found out I had a lactose intolerance. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve discovered so many wonderful non-dairy substitutes like coconut milk that are really just as good as they are good for you.

  22. This is a very great idea! It’s one of the many ways that you can enjoy your protein. I believe we should be more conscious to what we eat and serve. I am sure this is a great way to get the right amount of protein. :)

    I love all the good stuff we can make with milk; especially ice cream. Even though I don’t digest it well, I d love milk.

  33. I love plain milk! My brother and dad do too. We all drink big glasses of it. My mom on the other hand only likes it in her cereal.

  34. My toddler hates milk and the only way I can get her to drink it is by adding nesquick or something to that effect to it. Her doctor told me to not give her too much of it though, too much of a good thing isn’t that great.

  37. I love milk- strawberry milk… ugh, amazing. Once, two of my friends were talking and one of them mentioned that she was diabetic. The other friend said, “Oh I’m sorry! I didn’t know! That’s gotta be tough, the worst I have to deal with is lactose intolerance.”
    My diabetic friend gasped. “I’m so sorry!!! Give up milk, cheese, and yogurt?! No way- I’d MUCH rather be diabetic.”
    It was pretty funny, but I empathize. It’d be hard for me to give up my dairy.

  38. I don’t really care for flavoured milks (except cacao… I’ve watched too much Jamie Oliver perhaps), but I’m pleased to report that my family gets its dairy servings from either milk (commercial and mother’s) or greek yoghurt.
    My daughter simply adores said yoghurt, topped with lots of fruit (apples, blueberries, banana, but also dried apricot and co). It’s a both a fantastic family meal and a great start to a nice weekend.
