Easy Ways to Incorporate Milk at Breakfast Time #ProteinaDeLaLeche

Disclosure 1

As you all know, last week was National Breakfast Week. I shared a series of healthy and quick nutritious breakfasts for the entire family. I don’t know if you noticed, but many of the recipes either included milk in the recipe or was served with a glass of milk. That’s because we love milk in our household! It is pretty much always a part of our breakfast.

Why do we love milk so much?

We love milk because it is delicious.

We love milk because it is good for you. It’s good for your body. Good for your bones. (And, while obviously not for breakfast…a cold glass of milk paired with warm chocolate chip cookies is also good for the soul.)

We love milk because it packs a pretty good protein punch and protein helps you feel satisfied and fuller longer. That way I am not starving before lunch!

  2. I love flavored milk. Nesquick is a staple in my pantry 🙂

  3. Chocolate milk is my fav! I can’t stand to drink regular milk, I have to flavor it. lol. My kids love strawberry milk!

  4. Ashley M says:

I’ve been working to get my daughter to drink more milk lately. It’s an important part of diet.

  5. I don’t care too much for drinking plain milk, but we all love chocolate and strawberry milk! We also make smoothies with it when we have time (and the fruit).

  6. My girls love milk…plain, with flavor, in cereal, in smoothies. They are quite the fans!

  7. we do flavored milk sometimes too- esp for holidays. we call strawberry milk bunny milk, and I have no idea why.

  8. We drink a ton of milk in our house – my son can’t go a day without his chocolate milk, and I drink it after I work out. Definitely DELISH!

  9. I drank milk ALL through my pregnancy, like a whole carton a week LOL. I think that’s why my daughter loves milk so much now. I never have to struggle to get it in her. She especially loves it in cereal.

  10. I am currently hooked on almond milk! Great post.

  11. Great tips! My five-year old LOVES cow’s milk, and I’m slightly obsessed with almond milk. My two-year old is not a huge fan of milk, but we’re working on it. He does love smoothies in which I add milk and yogurt, so let’s hope he’s getting enough calcium that way.

  12. I grew up in a house full of big milk-drinkers, which became difficult when I found out I had a lactose intolerance. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve discovered so many wonderful non-dairy substitutes like coconut milk that are really just as good as they are good for you.

  13. We aren’t huge milk drinkers but we love strawberry milk and chocolate milk! We usually get our milk via cereal or in smoothies!

  14. My son loves milk so this is not an issue. I on the other hand need to find another source of calcium, I can;t stand it!

  15. I love Cinnamon Vanilla milk around Christmas time! I have to be so very careful because I am the only one that drinks it.. goes straight to my tummy… but it is so good!

  16. Great tips! We call my son the milk monster – he loves it so much!

  17. It definitely packs a punch for what it is. It’s so good for kids (and adults) to drink some form of milk, flavored or otherwise!

  18. My toddler loves milk. Recently I introduced him to chocolate milk – which he refers to as “chocolate juice.” It’s pretty cute.

  19. I LOVE and I mean LOVE strawberry milk. Our oldest has always been a milk drinker and still is to this day and she is now 18.

  20. My boyfriend is lactose intolerant and we don’t have milk together so I’ve kind of lost my taste. BUT this is such a great idea for incorporating more into my diet! Thanks for sharing.

  21. My daughter loves milk and will drink it all the time if we’d let her. I prefer almond or coconut milk.

  22. This is a very great idea! It’s one of the many ways that you can enjoy your protein. I believe we should be more conscious to what we eat and serve. I am sure this is a great way to get the right amount of protein. 🙂

  23. I grew up drinking a LOT of milk (Grandpa was a dairy farmer) and still drink quite a bit. I have it almost every morning in a smoothie too!

  24. I was never a milk person growing up however my boys can’t get enough of it. Thank for sharing your ideas

  25. We’re big milk drinkers here…all except my husband. Little man and I love it. He could drink his weight in milk daily.

  26. I incorporate creamer, is that the same LOL. I do use milk occasionally when I am eating cereal!

  27. We go through 3-4 gallons of milk a week! My kids love their milk.

  28. I’m trying to do better drinking milk by having it at night for dinner. Cuts down on wanting to snack. I’ve already had some for breakfast in my oatmeal.

  29. That strawberry milk looks delicious. I’m a chocolate fan myself.

  30. I can’t tolerate dairy, but I LOVE almond milk. My kids are really big on flavored milk, and drink a glass each day!

  31. Amy Desrosiers says:

I love milk too, and cant get enough of it! I prefer cream in my coffee though!

  32. Eliz Frank says:

I love all the good stuff we can make with milk; especially ice cream. Even though I don’t digest it well, I d love milk.

  33. I love plain milk! My brother and dad do too. We all drink big glasses of it. My mom on the other hand only likes it in her cereal.

  34. My toddler hates milk and the only way I can get her to drink it is by adding nesquick or something to that effect to it. Her doctor told me to not give her too much of it though, too much of a good thing isn’t that great.

  35. I have trouble drinking milk with my allergies, so we’ve moved more to almond milk.

  36. thanks for sharing the tips…

  37. I love milk- strawberry milk… ugh, amazing. Once, two of my friends were talking and one of them mentioned that she was diabetic. The other friend said, “Oh I’m sorry! I didn’t know! That’s gotta be tough, the worst I have to deal with is lactose intolerance.”
My diabetic friend gasped. “I’m so sorry!!! Give up milk, cheese, and yogurt?! No way- I’d MUCH rather be diabetic.”
It was pretty funny, but I empathize. It’d be hard for me to give up my dairy.

  38. I don’t really care for flavoured milks (except cacao… I’ve watched too much Jamie Oliver perhaps), but I’m pleased to report that my family gets its dairy servings from either milk (commercial and mother’s) or greek yoghurt.
My daughter simply adores said yoghurt, topped with lots of fruit (apples, blueberries, banana, but also dried apricot and co). It’s a both a fantastic family meal and a great start to a nice weekend.
